Frequently asked questions
Does the app work offline?
Yes. All core features — phrases, text-to-speech, and favourites — work without internet. AI-powered suggestions use Apple's on-device models and also work offline on supported devices. In the middle of the ocean or a desert — it still works.
Does the app record my conversations?
No. The microphone is used for real-time speech recognition only. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. All processing happens on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is Ryan's Voice suitable for children?
Yes. Ryan's Voice is designed for nonverbal individuals of any age. The phrase library is built from real therapy sessions and includes vocabulary appropriate for both children and adults. Touch targets are extra-large (60pt+) to accommodate motor planning challenges at any age.
What are the tiers?
Free — $0

Smart Voice — US$149.99, one-time lifetime purchase
Everything in Free plus AI conversation listening, real-time topic detection, semantic phrase suggestions, cross-session conversation memory, and AI-generated novel phrases. Prices in US dollars — the App Store shows your local currency (A$229.99 in Australia). A monthly option is planned.

Is Smart Voice a subscription?
Not currently — it's a one-time lifetime purchase that never expires. A monthly option is planned; when it launches it will be cancellable anytime via Apple ID settings (Settings > your name > Subscriptions), and the free tier always remains fully functional.
What devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS/iPadOS 18.0 or later.
How is my data protected?
